Aural Development

Not only important for the developing young musician but lots of fun too! This is a must for students who wish to pursue specialist music programs at school or uni.

Generally Jo will incorporate this area into her piano lessons, developing a student’s skills in listening and recall, in learning to pitch accurately, recognition and writing of rhythms, melodies and intervals, isolation of individual elements within a complete structure as well as a general understanding and recognition of musical styles and structures, instruments and historical conventions.

At a higher level, such as students studying for Tertiary Entrance Examinations, more time will need to be committed to this area than is usually possible within a piano lesson and students are recommended to gather a small group for focussed lessons
